Leave List & Delivery Concerns: Wording on Every Stop
Learn how to set up a leave list and delivery concerns so drivers know exactly when to capture signature at the door or leave a parcel safely.
The pain: unclear instructions, missed deliveries, and wasted time
Every driver knows the drill: you pull up to an address, and there's no clear instruction. Should you knock and wait? Leave the parcel at the door? What if there's a dog? You call the office. They call the customer. Meanwhile, your run is falling behind. The office is fielding calls, and the customer is left wondering where is my order.
This article fixes that. We'll show you how to set up a leave list and delivery concerns in StopSorted, so every stop has clear wording that both drivers and the office can see. No more guesswork, no more phone tag.
How it works: two lists, one goal
StopSorted keeps two address lists on the Lists tab: a Leave list and a Delivery concerns list. These are fleet-owned, so they're specific to your company.
The Leave list is for addresses where the customer allows you to leave the parcel if nobody answers. This is not a signature skip — if someone is home, drivers can still capture signature at the door. The leave list just tells the driver what to do when no one is there.
The Delivery concerns list is for addresses that need a warning — a dog, a locked gate, a hazard. When someone adds that address to a run, they see a warning and must acknowledge it before continuing.
Both lists are managed by the office, but drivers see the results in their app.
Step-by-step: adding addresses to your lists
- Open the Lists tab. (Office staff can also go to Fleet Settings → Proof & leave.)
- Choose Leave list or Delivery concerns.
- Tap Search, type at least four characters (you'll see Searching…), and pick a result from the dropdown. Typing alone isn't enough — you must select the correct address from the search results.
- The suburb and postcode will fill in automatically. Add an optional note if needed.
- Tap Add address.
That's it. The address is now on the list, and matching stops will show the label or warning.
Setting your leave label
The account owner sets the Leave label under Settings → Proof & leave. This label appears app- and dashboard-wide. Options include:
- ATL (default)
- LAI
- Safe Drop
- Left as instructed
- Authority to Leave
- Or type your own (max 32 characters)
Pick the wording that makes sense for your business. Matching stops show that label as a chip in the driver app and on the Fleet route map list.
What the driver sees vs what the office sees
Driver app: When a driver opens a stop that's on the leave list, they see a chip with your chosen label (e.g., "ATL" or "Safe Drop"). If the address is on the delivery concerns list, they see a warning and must acknowledge it before they can proceed. This keeps safety front and center.
Fleet dashboard: The office sees the same label on the route map list. They know which stops have special instructions, so they can answer customer questions without calling the driver. If a customer asks where is my order, the office can see if the driver was authorized to leave it.
Customer: They don't see the label directly, but they benefit from consistent service. If they've allowed leave, the parcel is left safely. If there's a concern, the driver is warned and can take extra care.
Worked example: before and after
Before: A driver has a run with 20 stops. Three of them are regular customers who have told the office they're happy for parcels to be left at the door. But the driver doesn't know that. At each of those stops, nobody answers. The driver calls the office. The office calls the customer. Two customers don't answer, so the driver marks the parcels as undeliverable and moves on. The next day, the customers call to complain. The office spends an hour sorting it out.
After: The office adds those three addresses to the leave list with the label "ATL". The driver sees the chip on each stop. When nobody answers, they leave the parcel and capture a proof of delivery photo. No calls. No delays. The customers get their parcels. The office saves time. The driver finishes the run on schedule.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still get a signature if someone is home? Yes. The leave list is not a signature skip. If someone answers the door, drivers can still capture signature at the door as usual. The leave list only applies when nobody is home.
What if an address is on both lists? If an address is on both the leave list and the delivery concerns list, the delivery concern warning takes priority. The driver must acknowledge the warning before proceeding, and then they'll see the leave label.
Who can add addresses to the lists? By default, the account owner and users with access to Settings can add addresses. You can also allow a restricted login to add addresses without Settings by ticking Lists under Settings → Users.
How does StopSorted match addresses? Matching uses the street line plus suburb/postcode, and the map pin (~40 m) when stops have coordinates. That's why it's important to pick the correct result from the address search — typing alone isn't enough.
Are these lists shared with other companies? No. Lists are fleet-owned only. They are not shared across companies.
