Done or Skip: Keep Your Office Live Map Honest
Learn how Done and Skip keep the office live map accurate for delivery fleets. A driver route app guide to honest stop updates.
The problem with unfinished stops
You finish a delivery, hop back in the van, and drive off. But the office still sees that stop as open. They think you're still there. They call to ask why you're behind. You're not behind — you just didn't tap a button.
Every stop you leave open makes the office live map wrong. It shows the wrong arrival times. It makes the dispatcher think you're stuck when you're already three streets away. That costs you time on the phone and makes the whole team look slow.
This article shows you how to use Done and Skip on every stop so the map stays honest. No extra steps. No guessing. Just a clean run that everyone can see.
How it works
The bottom sheet on your current stop has two main buttons: Done and Skip. Done marks the stop complete. Skip marks it skipped. Neither one opens Maps by itself.
There is no Next button. Done and Skip are what the office map uses. If you want directions, tap Navigate — that's the only button that opens turn-by-turn.
When you're in Google Maps or Waze, you'll see a StopSorted notification or a map bubble. It has the same Done and Skip. Tap either one, and directions to the next stop open automatically. After the last stop, Maps opens the finish address. The chip says Finish. Tap I'm back when you arrive, or Open to leave Maps.
If you have Navigate on StopSorted map turned on, Done, Skip, and Open in Maps sit on the bottom driving bar with the next turn. Open in Maps is only for turn-by-turn — Done and Skip stay in the app. After the last stop, the bar stays on for the drive back. Tap Stop navigation when you arrive.
Other stops in the list stay quiet. Tap a stop or its pin to see arrival time, items, and note. Tap More if you need Navigate, Skip, or Done out of order.
Step-by-step: using Done and Skip
- Arrive at a stop. The bottom sheet shows the stop you're on.
- Complete the delivery. If your fleet requires proof, Done will ask for a photo and optional signature. Skip does not ask for a photo.
- Tap Done or Skip. Done marks it complete. Skip marks it skipped. Neither opens Maps.
- Directions start automatically. After either tap, turn-by-turn to the next stop opens on its own.
- If you're in Maps, use the notification or map bubble to tap Done or Skip. Same result.
- If you make a mistake, go to the Done tab. Open You have X stops left, then Done. Tap Undo to put it back on the open list. Skipped stops also stay on the open list with Undo.
- If you lose signal, Done and Skip stay on your phone. The stop shows Waiting to sync until StopSorted sends it. Keep driving — it catches up when you're back online.
- If a send fails, the banner turns red: Couldn't sync a stop — will retry. Leave it. StopSorted tries again. Don't tap Done a second time unless you meant to undo first.
- Check your progress. Menu → Route summary shows Done and Skipped counts for the day.
- Finish the route. When every stop is Done, Skipped, or Failed, the route marks Complete on its own. You don't need to log out. Directions still take you back to the finish address.
What the driver sees vs what the office sees
Driver: You see the current stop, the bottom sheet with Done, Skip, and Navigate. You see the next turn if you're using in-app navigation. You see the Done tab with Undo. You see Waiting to sync when offline. You see the route summary.
Office: The live map shows each stop as open, done, or skipped. When you tap Done, the stop turns complete. When you tap Skip, it shows skipped. The map updates arrival times for the remaining stops. The dispatcher knows exactly where you are and what's left.
Customer: If you use proof of delivery, the photo and signature are attached to the stop. The customer doesn't see the map. But the office can send them a delivery confirmation if needed.
A realistic example
Before: Sarah drives for a small courier company. She has 12 stops. She finishes stop 4 but forgets to mark it. She drives to stop 5. The office calls: "Are you still at stop 4? The map shows you there." Sarah explains she's already at stop 5. The dispatcher manually updates the map. Two minutes lost. This happens three more times that day.
After: Sarah taps Done as she leaves each stop. The map updates instantly. The office sees stop 4 complete, stop 5 in progress. No calls. The dispatcher can give accurate arrival times to customers. Sarah finishes her run 15 minutes earlier because she's not stopping to answer the phone.
Frequently asked questions
What if I tap Done by mistake? Go to the Done tab, find the stop, and tap Undo. It goes back to the open list. You can then tap Skip if needed.
What happens if I'm offline? Done and Skip stay on your phone. The stop shows Waiting to sync. Keep driving. When you're back online, StopSorted sends the updates automatically.
Do I need to log out for the office to see my route is finished? No. When every stop is Done, Skipped, or Failed, the route marks Complete on its own. The office sees it immediately.
What's the difference between Skip and Failed? Skip means you couldn't complete it and left it for later. Failed means the delivery failed. Both keep the stop on the open list with Undo. Check with your fleet on which one to use.
Does Done open Maps? No. Done marks the stop complete only. If you want directions, tap Navigate. After you tap Done or Skip, directions to the next stop open automatically.
Keep the map honest
Done and Skip are the only buttons that tell the office what happened. Use them on every stop. The map stays accurate. The office stops calling. You finish on time.
