Add Stops on the Phone: Address Search, VIP, Windows & Notes
Learn how to add stops on the phone with address search, map pin, VIP, arrival windows, and notes. Sort your delivery route with ease using StopSorted.
Adding stops shouldn't be a headache
You're at the depot, coffee in hand, and the office has sent a run. But it's missing that new cafe on the corner. Or a customer just called to add a pickup. You need to add stops fast, without fumbling with paper or calling the office. Every minute spent on admin is a minute not on the road.
This article shows you how to add stops on the phone using the StopSorted driver app. You'll learn to search by address or shop name, drop a pin on the map, set VIP status, arrival windows, items, and notes. By the end, you'll be able to build or adjust your run and sort it for the best stop order.
How it works
The add stops feature is built for drivers on the move. It lives inside your run on the map. You tap the + button, and a full screen opens for adding stops. The map pauses while you type, so you're not fighting a moving target.
You can search for an address or a shop name. The app looks for matches near you and in the same town as your last stop, showing the closest ones first. If you can't find the place, you can drop a pin on the map. Once a stop is added, you can set whether it's a delivery or pickup, mark it as VIP, choose an arrival window, add items, and leave a note for the driver.
Everything saves as you go. There's no save button. You can undo the last add if you make a mistake. And if the run is already sorted, you can choose where to insert the new stop.
Step-by-step: adding a stop
- Open today's run on the map.
- Tap the + button. The full-screen add view appears.
- Type the address or shop name in the search box. You can also tap the navy mic to speak it. After four characters, you'll see Searching…, and results update automatically. Matches nearer you show first.
- If the place is already on this run, up to two matches show at the top with gold Add items. Tap one to bump items with + / −. Otherwise, tap a new address result.
- If the office flagged that address on the delivery concern list, you'll see a warning and must tap Add stop to continue.
- If you see No matches, tap Place on map. Move the map so the pin sits on the place, enter a name and/or address, then Confirm.
- On the details card, set Normal / VIP, Delivery / Pickup, arrival (Any, Fixed, or Window), items with + / −, and an optional note.
- The new stop shows in a gold JUST ADDED box. Tap gold Undo if you need to remove it.
- Type in the address box again to add the next stop.
- Tap navy Done when you have enough stops. Add at least two before you sort.
Tip: For corners, type CNR A and B Street (or &). Type at least four more characters after CNR before search starts (e.g., CNR Main). House ranges like 72-90 find both ends. Voice search fills the box and searches.
What the driver sees vs what the office sees
As a driver, you see the map with your stops, the add screen, and the details of each stop. You can edit notes, change VIP status, and adjust arrival windows. The office sees the same run on their dashboard. They can add stops too, and if they've flagged an address as a concern, you'll see their warning before you add it.
When you add a personal pin, it stays on your phone. Real venues may show up for everyone later. This means you can add a mate's place for a one-off delivery without cluttering the office's view.
A realistic scenario
Mia is a courier in Melbourne. Her morning run has 12 stops. At 9 am, the office calls: "Can you add a pickup at 45 Smith St? It's urgent." Mia opens the app, taps +, and types the address. The app finds it and she adds it as a VIP pickup with a fixed arrival time of 10 am. She also adds a note: "Ring bell, ask for Tom." The run is already sorted, so she chooses to insert it after stop 3. The app re-sorts the route, and Mia sees the new stop order. She saves 10 minutes of back-and-forth and gets the pickup done on time.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add stops after the run is sorted? Yes. If the run is locked, you'll pick which stop to insert after. The app will re-sort the route for the best stop order.
What if I can't find the address? Use Place on map. Drop a pin, give it a name, and confirm. Personal pins stay on your phone.
How do I mark a stop as VIP? On the details card, tap VIP instead of Normal. You can also mark VIP later using the lasso or stop list.
Can I add notes for the office to see? Yes. Notes are visible to both you and the office. Use them for gate codes, dock instructions, or special requests.
